Remember Jailbreakme.com? It is the world known jailbreak solution for iPhone , iPod Touch and iPad but when this website starts to create buzz, Apple file a lawsuit to stop them. Now the first modchip for PS3 that lets you backup your game and play homebrew games is currently going toe to toe over Sony.
In Australia, OzModchip now declared to be on hold and they can’t sell or reproduce USB dongle for PS Jailbreak.
This is coming true, Sony wants to protect their business model and the modchip for PS3 is real. Sony Playstation is now getting serious with this as they also filed the website that sell USB dongle.
As of now we are looking what will happen to this new breakthrough on PS3′s unbreakable security. In the US, Sony is also filing lawsuit to the people behind this and also the company but like what happened to JailbreakMe this might change the stance of Sony against the people behind PSJailbreak.
Right now, PSGroove just released in public and it’s for free. Unlike PSJailbreak , PSGroove doesn’t give you the right to play pirated game copies but some rumors that PSGroove is the open source version of PSJailbreak and some of the people already find a way to play those copy games.
Too bad for OzModchips on getting a lawsuit but when this ModChip for PS3 goes large and it’s for free then Ps3 will join Xbox 360 fighting piracy.
Its a wonder how Sory responds to this, instead of a patch to fix it they just put an order to stop distribution of a ‘leaked’ developer mode and hope the hack won’t spread.
Too bad for them, had they not angered the linux user’s community, maybe they wouldn’t have this much of a hassle in the first place. Plus there are no legal constitution that forbades one’s rights into backing up something they have bought legitimately rights to use, especially a flimsy medium that has essentally the same basic designs as what a compact disc.
Sony dug their own grave!
